In crafting purposeful experiences within our therapy setting for goal attainment in the Purpose Project, The Hope Source takes a multifaceted approach. Our annual themed units, spanning 6 to 12 weeks, immerse clients in a dynamic project-based curriculum. Throughout this journey, clients collaboratively select and work on two substantial, enduring products. The key lies in the conscientious guidance and support provided by our Behavior Technicians and Analysts. Instead of relying on tangible reinforcers, we focus on intrinsic motivation derived from personal triumphs. Each day becomes a meaningful step toward a larger goal, fostering trust between clients and therapists. We embed learning experiences within these projects, targeting critical therapy goals encompassing social-emotional and executive functioning skills. Through real-world applications, such as social communication, flexible thinking, joint attention, and more, we enable clients to apply newly acquired skills meaningfully. This authentic engagement naturally encourages the generalization of these skills into various life situations. We understand that authentic engagement is pivotal, and by intertwining purposeful projects with therapy goals, we cultivate confidence and competence in a way that transcends traditional methods. This mindful, responsive, and meaningful approach addresses the chronic stress experienced by individuals with ASD, guiding them through anxiety and paving the way for genuine growth and development.
